MARCH 7, 2011 ----- 'THE MAGIC MILE' SPEED REPORT; KOBALT TOOLS 400 RECAP ..... The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returned to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Kobalt Tools 400, the third race of the 2011 season. Below are a few fast facts from the day.
*Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Scotts Ford won the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
*This was Edwards' 19th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory and his third in the past five races.
*Tony Stewart finished second posting his eighth top-10 finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This was his second top-10 finish in 2011.
*Pole sitter Matt Kenseth cut a tire on lap 13, causing him to fall a lap down early in the race. He finished 11th.
*Hometown favorites Kurt and Kyle Busch were never contenders for the Las Vegas win. Kurt finished 9th while his brother Kyle finished 38th after an engine failure.
*The top-10 finishers; Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Newman, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch and Brian Vickers.
*The top-10 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points; Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Juan Pablo Montoya, , Ryan Newman, Paul Menard, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, A J Allmendinger and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
*Next week will be an off weekend for NASCAR's top series; the next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will be at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 20, beginning at 1 p.m.
