MARCH 27, 2011 ----- THE NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES RETURNED TO THE AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY FOR THE AUTO CLUB 400 TODAY ..... The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returned to the Auto Club Speedway for the Auto Club 400 today for the fifth race of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Below are a few fast facts from the race.
Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet became the fifth winner in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season by leading the only lap that counted, the last one, to win the Auto Club 400 today.
He passed Jimmie Johnson on the last lap, in turn-four to steal his first win at the track.
This is also team owner Richard Childress’s first win at the 2-mile oval.
Kyle Busch dominated the 400-mile race by leading 151 of 200 laps.
Pole-sitter Juan Montoya finished 10th.
The top-10 finishers; Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, Brian Vickers, Kasey Kahne and Juan Montoya.
The top-10 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points; Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Paul Menard, Juan Montoya, Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth.
The next Sprint Cup Series race will be at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Va., on Sunday, April 3, beginning at 1 p.m.
