MARCH 28, 2011 ----- 'THE MAGIC MILE' SPEED REPORT; HONDA GRAND PRIX OF ST. PETERSBURG RACE RECAP ..... The IZOD INDYCAR Series kicked off its anticipated 2011 season Sunday in St. Petersburg, Fla., with plenty of familiar faces running up front. Below are a few fast facts from the day.
*Dario Franchitti, driver of the No. 10 Target Chip Ganassi race car, got an early jump on his drive for three straight IZOD INDYCAR titles, by winning the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the first race in 2011 season.
*This was Franchittie's first win at the 1.8-mile road course.
*Pole sitter and 2010 championship runner-up Will Power finished second.
*Fan favorite Danica Patrick finished 12th.
*The top-10 finishing positions; Dario Franchitti, Will Power, Tony Kanaan, Simona de Silvestro, Takuma Sato, Alex Tagliani, Raphael Matos, Vitor Meira, Oriol Servia and Justin Wilson.
*The top-10 in the IZOD INDYCAR points standings; Dario Franchitti, Will Power, Tony Kanaan, Simona de Silvestro, Takuma Sato, Alex Tagliani, Raphael Matos, Vitor Meira, Oriol Servia and Justin Wilson.
