APRIL 27, 2011 ----- NEAR TO BE PRESENT AT STAFFORD'S 40TH ANNUAL CARQUEST TECH-NET SPRING SIZZLER ----- The New England Antique Racers (NEAR), will be a part of the 40th annual Carquest Tech-Net Spring Sizzler at Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway on the weekend of April 30 – May 1.
In a press release from the New England Antique Racers (NEAR), issued Tuesday, April 26 it was erroneously reported that Gary DeSarro, son of the late Fred DeSarro will be pacing the starting field of Sunday’s 40th annual Carquest Tech-Net Spring Sizzler at Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway behind the controls of the original Len Boehler-owned Ole Blue coupe that his father drove to victory in the first Sizzler in 1972.
The original Ole Blue was later totaled during the 1972 campaign. Gary will actually be driving a subsequent edition of the famous car, one that Hall of Fame member DeSarro raced to great success in New England small-block competition of the 1970s.
The New England Antique Racers (NEAR) regret the error.
