MAY 9, 2011 ----- "MAGIC MILE " SPEED REPORT; SHOWTIME SOUTHERN "500" ----- While tempers flared, tears fell as Regan Smith took home his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series checkered flag Saturday night during the Showtime Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
• Regan Smith, driver of the No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet became the eighth different winner and the second first time winner in the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.
• This was Smith’s first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win in 105 starts.
• Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick were called to the NASCAR trailer after an altercation on pit road after Busch spun Harvick’s car late in the race.
• Pole sitter Kasey Kahne finished fourth.
• The top-10 finishers: Regan Smith, Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Jamie McMurray and Martin Truex Jr.
• The top-10 in points: Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer and Matt Kenseth.
• The next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, at Dover International Speedway beginning at 1 p.m.
