JUNE 13, 2011 ----- Rain Halts Racing, Busy Schedule Ahead ----- Mother Nature, once again, dampened the race program at Monadnock Speedway this past Saturday, June 11th but the management is gearing for an exciting three week venue of special events.
This Saturday, June 18th, the racers and fans will honor a fallen competitor, who perished in a house fire in May. The first annual Victor Johnson Memorial Race presented by Swanzey Oil and Hamshaw Lumber will feature the first Twin 25 Modified Triple Crown event plus Pro 4 Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Allison Legacy, Young Guns, Lightning Stocks (4-cylinder Enduros) and Thunder Stocks (Full Size Enduros). The speedway will being holding special raffle with all proceeds to go to the family of Victor Johnson. Prizes include a variety of power tools and Boston Red Sox tickets (donated by Hamshaw Lumber) plus a prize package of a pair of tickets to the sold out Taylor Swift at Gillette Stadium (donated by Joe’s Auto sales), transportation to and from the concert by Thomas Transportation and a Brunch before the concert at Papagallos. Race time is at 6pm.
On Sunday, Mondnock Speedway will host their first Mud Bog Mudslinger Series at 11am (reschedule from June 12th). The mud bogs feature four Mudslinging classes.
On Saturday, June 25th, Monadnock Speedway will host the second annual Whelen Modified 200. This special event brought a huge crowd last year while they witnessed one of the best Whelen Modified races in New England with Ted Christopher capturing the win. The speedway is selling advanced discounted and reserved seating tickets. Tickets can be purchased by calling the speedway’s office at 603-239-4067, deadline to purchase advanced ticket is noon on Thursday, June 23rd. Time trials start at 5pm.
Firecracker Night featuring the best Fireworks display and racing in the region will be held on Saturday, July 2nd where the Valenti Modified Series will duel it out in a 100 lap competition. This race will also be a pre-qualifier for the upcoming Ricky’s Race. Race time is at 5pm.
