SEPTEMBER 4, 2011 ..... Dan Douville Wins at Bear Ridge, Ties Clay Dow in Triple Crown Points .....  Dan Douville of Bridgewater, NH came from the seventh starting spot to win the Sprint Cars of New England feature before a large crowd at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday and move into a tie with Clay Dow of Barnstead, NH for the points lead in the SCoNE Triple Crown series.  In addition to the track purse on each of the three consecutive nights, the Triple Crown Series points fund pays $5,020 to the top 10 drivers.

Lapped traffic was a factor throughout the 30 lap event, which was slowed by caution flags for minor incidents on laps 2 and 14.  Douville passed Dow for the lead on lap 13 in a three wide pass involving a lapped car.

“They watered the top of the track just before the feature and I didn’t know if that was going to work out... it obviously did,” Douville said. “ I couldn’t get up there the first few laps because I was afraid it would be too wet and I’d slide off the track or up into the fence.  I started inching my way up, inching my way up - and boy it really started working.  Then we started picking off some real good cars and I thought ‘Wow, we’re really going’.  When we caught Clay, he was running the bottom really well but I could really fly it in on the top and we were pretty much on the hammer all the way around.  I was hoping that the lapped car would stay down, but he moved up just a little to the middle, but I was able to go up to the third groove.  It was an exciting race for me; I hope the fans enjoyed it.”

Defending SCoNE champion Chris Donnelly of Piermont, NH was second; his intelligent use of lapped traffic allowed him to move within striking distance of Douville on the final lap.  Clay Dow, who won Friday’s Triple Crown opener at the Canaan Dirt Speedway, was third.

The Triple Crown Champion will be determined by the third and final race at Legion Speedway in Rumney, NH, this Sunday afternoon, September 4.  Hot laps at 2:00 pm, post time 3:00 pm.
