SEPTEMBER 19, 2011 ----- Five Champions Crowned at Monadnock Season Finale ----- Bill Kimball won his second consecutive NASCAR Whelen All American Racing Series Sportsman Modified championship Saturday, September 17, at Monadnock Speedway; with four other drivers topping their respective divisions to earn career-first NASCAR track titles.

John Lavoie, fourth on the night, is the 2011 Super Stock champion at New England’s fastest quarter-mile; with Eric Dejackome, third in the Mini Stock finale, winning his first title too, and then edging Lavoie in the Great School Bus race to punctuate his championship season.

Steady Eddie Lofland and Gordon Farnum each closed out his winning season by topping his season finale – Lofland in the Thunder Stocks, and Farnum in the Lightning Stocks - to leave no doubt who was number one in their respective divisions.

Russ Hersey won his second Sportsman Modified feature of the season, and second in as many weeks, but not without Nick Boivin painted to his bumper for almost all 50 laps. Boivin would look high, low, and in between before settling for the runner-up finish in Hersey’s shadow.

Former Super Stock strong man Keith Carzello was third on the night, to earn his first open-wheel trophy. Dave Knight and Adam Brooks rounded out the top five, with Kimball, Kyle Poodiack, and Joey Kendall all knocked out of contention in a multi-car jingle along the frontchute on lap 21.

Eddie Brehio III won his second Super Stock feature of the season, battling with his father and Bill Johnston for many laps before the elder Brehio cut down a tire on lap 21. John Lavoie would seize second on the restart, but then be shuffled back as Geoff Rollins rocketed into second, and Johnston claimed third. With Lavoie fourth on the night, Ed Lofland came home fifth.

Chris Davis led the first two laps of the Mini Stock, main then giving way to Rich Fournier. Emerson Cayer rocketed to the front with Fournier and the two battled wheel-to-wheel until Cayer took control on lap six.
Fournier finished his strong night’s work ten lengths behind Cayer in second, with Dejackome, Beth Adams, and Louis Mahar rounding out the top five.

Joe Collins and Scott Betourney each won his second Young Guns feature of the season, Collins outdistancing Allison Coelho – earning her second trophy in as many weeks – and Zach Wells in the first go-round, with Betourney duplicating his opening night win ahead of JT Cloutier and Hillary Renaud in the nightcap.

In support card action, Rob Richardi won his second main event of the year at the high banked speedplant, but the pass of the night belonged to runner-up Norm Wren, charging from third place half way through the final turn to beat out Kurt Vigeant by six lengths for the deuce finish.

Gee Perry took the point from Andy Lindeman on lap ten of the New England Truck Series main, and the two then pulled away. Kurt Oullette came home third.

In the Allison Legacy 25-lapper, it was James Logan putting together another dominant run at Monadnock to earn the checkers. Peter Portante, the winner a week earlier, was strong in second, with home track hot shoe Nathan Johnson third.

Former speedway champion Shawn Stone dominated a 16-car field to top the night’s spectator racing event, gobbling up all contenders with his high performance Camaro.

Veteran Late Model ace Ed Lofland took no prisoners in topping the Thunder Stock feature, and then put on the best smoke show of the night in celebration of his first-ever track championship. Trailing Lofland by half a lap was Joe Ethier. Jared Edson, Duane Stonier, and Seth Petalas rounded out the top five.

Lightning Stocker Gordon Farnum carried the last checkered flag of the season at Monadnock and, making his victory even sweeter, won his first career track championship. The sophomore speedster came from deep in the 22-car field to claim second on lap 29 and then reel in Toby Wells to take control on lap 42. Wells finished a season-best second, with the Houle brothers, Dick and Pat, third and fourth.

The race events have ended for  the 2011 season however the speedway will be back in action on Saturday, October 1st hosting the first annual Funtober-Fest featuring the Mudslinger Mudbog Series and a musical Fireworks display.
